Thankful Thursday: My Brother and Grocery Shopping!

One thing I am extremely thankful for is my family!  I have been blessed with the best parents and an amazing older brother!  For today’s ‘Thankful Thursday’ I wanted to focus on my older brother, Jared!

My brother Jared and I have always gotten along.  He is one of the most godly, sincere, genuine and caring people I know.  Jared is the kind of guy who works his hardest at whatever he does.  Whether it’s maintaining a 4.0 GPA (yeah… I don’t know how he does it), working for a summer job, or even helping me figure out what classes to take.  Oh, and another thing I love about Jared is that he prefers to eat healthy!  Since my interest in eating healthier foods began about 2 years ago, Jared has gained an interest as well!  In fact, we just went on a ‘brother-sister date’ a few days ago, to a local health market!

Yeah, we were pretty fascinated with the ‘make-your-own’ peanut butter machines!  They ground  peanuts to make fresh peanut butter, which came out hot, fresh and delicious!!  Yum!!
We picked up a few more healthy treats while we were out!  Jared got some Clif bars and peanut butter for him and his fiancé to enjoy.  I got some other goodies to savor for the week to come 🙂  Including lots of carrots, a big, delicious apple, fresh honey roasted peanut butter and dark chocolate peanut butter!  And I also picked up some dry roasted edamame which, get this, has 14 grams of protein in just a fourth of a cup!!  Seriously?!  Yep.

I have been craving a treat, so I picked up some dark chocolate with sea salt… GREAT DECISION!  It tastes amazing dipped in a bit of peanut butter.  I believe that you should treat yourself regularly.  This prevents overeating and makes everyday a treat!  Besides, these dark chocolates come in 55 calorie squares that are individually wrapped, making portion control much easier!

Overall, it was a great little grocery trip!  Picking up some tasty treats and enjoying time with my awesome brother is always fun!!

Some people fight with their siblings.  Some siblings grow apart after years of separation, but if that is you I want to encourage you to reconnect with a distant brother or sister.  It may be hard to do, but give them a call, shoot them a text or even simply send them an email!  It will most likely make their day… and it’ll probably make yours too!

How about you guys?  What are you thankful for this Thursday?
