Thankful Thursday- Besties!

“Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work:  If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up!” (Ecclesiastes 4: 9-10)

I am a “people person.” I’ve always been a “people person.” I just love making new friends and being social. I love people! Whenever I go out, I manage to find new people to talk to and connect with.  Whether it’s the cashier checking me out at Trader Joe’s, the waitress serving lunch at a cute little cafe, or the quiet student I sit next to in my new class… I love people! And while making friends is always fun for me, there’s something so very special about ‘old friends.’  Friends who have been a part of your life for years. Someone you can count on, no matter what. Someone who always has your back… who knows your silly secrets, your irrational fears, your lofty dreams, and your annoying habits… AND loves you anyway. Today, for Thankful Thursday, I’m thankful for one of my closest and my oldest friends, Katie. Katie and I have been friends since we were toddlers!

We were classmates in Nursery School and we did Tap and Ballet together in Miss Dianne’s basement!
We made it through middle school and high school together and we celebrated lots of special occasions.
From New Year’s Eve to Sweet Sixteen, we always made a great team! We laughed, we studied, we ate too much and we complained about how fat we felt… (while watching Miss America). We did our nails and our makeup and our hair and our homework.
We went to Youth Group, we went shopping, we trick-or-treated, and we laughed. We went camping and we dipped chocolates and we ordered pizza and we took our SAT’s. Did I mention we laughed?
We watched every season of 24… we were hooked! We both fell in love with Jack Bauer at the same time! We tried to crop his handsome face into one of our photos! The crop job wasn’t too good, but we didn’t mind.    🙂
Cailee and Katie… Katie and Cailee… Even our moms mixed up our names! Good times…
Close friends are a true blessing!  They’re there for you through thick and thin, the small moments and the big ones…
And here we are now! After graduation I moved away to another college in another state and she stayed home to attend our local university. But this semester I transferred back to HER school to pursue my degree in Health Studies. We graduated Preschool, finished middle school and then graduated from high school together and now we’re going to college! So, on this Thursday (and everyday) I am TRULY thankful for my friend, Katie!

How about you? What are you thankful for?
