Hello whole foods! When it comes to my diet, you guys know I’m all about that “eat better NOT less” philosophy. Forget about skimpy portions of processed foods or cutting out fats and carbs. Instead, go for the good stuff– REAL, nutritionally dense, satisfying, and delicious options. When you eat ‘real food’ you can eat in abundance without fear of weight gain because your body knows how to properly digest it.
Unlike processed foods packed with ingredients you can’t even pronounce, real food is SIMPLE. Simple and satisfying. I just feel SO good after a balanced veggie-based meal, topped with extra nourishment. Here’s how I make the perfect meal- whether I’m at home in my cozy kitchen, eating out at the Whole Foods Salad Bar, enjoying dinner at a friend’s house, or even ordering from a menu at a cute little local restaurant. Here’s how I get it done:
I start with a base of veggies, add some protein, pile on more veggies, and top it with some healthy fats and energizing carbohydrates. Throw it all in a big ‘to-go bowl’ and I’m good-to-go! Since I’m not much of a snacker, I really enjoy my BIG meals. I just love the feeling of leaving the table full… satisfied, energized, and ready to tackle the rest of the day.
That’s why a skimpy salad without the healthy fats will NOT satisfy me. I’ll be searching for food an hour later! That’s also why a ‘carby’ lunch (maybe gluten free pasta or a rice dish) isn’t enough either. I’ll be craving something yummy in no time! I need my nourishing protein. I make sure to get a balance of all 3 macronutrients at all 3 of my meals. This prevents over or under eating (both of which can be the result of an imbalanced diet). But when you eat REAL food (in abundance) then you can feel good ALL day long! Win-win, right??
What about you? Do you “eat better not less?” Are you a snacker or a meal person?

Both of these meals look so good! I am definitely more of a snacker – but I eat full meals and then snacks inbetween… I’m one of those #alwayseating people – but hey! That’s how my body works best! 😛
June 7, 2017 at 11:29 pm“eat better not less” is one of my favorite healthy eating mantras I’ve heard and I don’t think I started hearing it until pretty recently! I love the emphasis on WHAT we’re eating over the focus on super petite portions that sometimes unfortunately tend to go along with a healthier eating mindset!
