Treats in Moderation!

Now that Christmas is behind us, it is so much easier to resist those tempting holiday sweets, right?  Wrong!! If you’re anything like my family (and most families) chances are you still have those leftovers from Christmas dinner, the cookies from the cookie swaps, and the bowls and bowls of Hershey’s miniatures, Kisses and Lindt chocolates.  Not only are they festive and decorative, but they are also delicious!

I love chocolate!! Honestly, being gluten intolerant, the cookies don’t phase me, and since I don’t eat dairy, the creamy desserts don’t even interest me.  But chocolate?? OH. MY. GOODNESS!! I love it.  Literally, chocolate is my thing!  Not only does it taste delicious, but some people even say it’s ‘healthy’… I mean dark chocolate is full of antioxidants, right?

Well, what’s wrong with a little sweet?  My advice?  Enjoy your leftovers… but don’t stuff them in your face just because they’re there.  I mean, I love chocolate, but in order to fully enjoy it I stick to a small amount.  The first few bites are the best, so why bother indulging in anything but the best?

My advice?  Savor your after-Christmas treats in moderation… enjoy a little piece of chocolate after lunch or a small scoop of peppermint ice cream after dinner.  Just stop after a small portion. This way you are sure to enjoy the best!  And the stale Christmas cookies from last week? Just toss them in the garbage… you’re body is not a trash can, so don’t fill it with junk!

What about you?  Do you have any left overs?  What is your plan to do with them?
