Saturday Superfoods: Carrots

Carrots are NOT just for bunnies!  I love carrots!  They’re sweet and delicious and come in a cheerful, sunny shade of orange.  Carrots are naturally low in calories and high in water content, making them hydrating and nutritious!  In addition to that, they naturally cleanse the body.  Their high Vitamin A content flushes out waste and toxins from the liver.  Their fiber aids the colon in waste removal… making them the perfect detox food.  And they have lots more vitamins than just A… Carrots are rich in Vitamin C, K, E, B6, B2, potassium, magnesium, folate, and many more!!   Carrots are seriously amazing!  I like to think of them as little orange gifts from God!

Carrots are slightly sweet, but in a healthy (not sugary) way.  I’m sure you’ve tried baby carrots… they’re so portable and versatile.  I love to enjoy them fresh with hummus, cut into ‘carrot chip form’  with salsa and avocado, steamed with a bit of cinnamon or just plain ‘out of the bag!’  They’re great to munch when you’re hungry… as a snack or as a cheerful part of your next healthy meal!
