Saturday Superfood: Quinoa


Superfoods are foods you love and foods that love you back!  They’re seriously the best thing “since sliced bread!”  Not only do they taste delicious…but they also nourish your body!  They are the perfect “tummy love” foods.

Ok, before I get carried away, let me tell you about one of the best superfoods out there.  It’s quinoa!

Quinoa is naturally gluten-free because it’s grain-free.  Also, quinoa has all 9 of the building blocks of protein.  It’s great as a post-workout, for dinner, or anytime really!  It actually reduces hunger, helps with digestive troubles, stabilizes blood-sugar levels, and slows aging.  It’s rich in necessary vitamins and minerals, such as magnesium and fiber… and it’s low in fat and calories!

Seriously, I can’t think of a reason not to eat this stuff!  In addition to being healthy and tasty, quinoa is super versatile.

The picture above is of a mixed salad from a little sandwich shop I went to recently, but quinoa can also be baked into cookies, muffins, or even eaten as breakfast cereal!  The options are endless, so I encourage you to give it a try!  You’ll be glad you did… and your body will too!
