Coconut oil is a ‘super popular’ new ‘super food’ these days, but it’s NOT actually new at all! For centuries, people all over the world have used it in their diet and for many other reasons! It may not be new, but I’m kind of obsessed with it! …and rightfully so. Coconut oil is all the rage when it comes to eating healthy these days. Perfect for vegans, those eating gluten free, people following a Paleo diet, and anyone looking to add a little more ‘healthy fat’ to their diet. The benefits of including coconut oil in your diet are seemingly endless! Here are just a few:
- weight loss
- disease prevention
- reduced risk for infections
- hunger reduction
- lower cholesterol levels
Coconut oil is amazing! But MY favorite uses for coconut oil doesn’t involve eating it at all! Sure, I love frying an egg in it in the AM or sautéing up some veggies with it for lunch. But the kitchen is not the only room where I can enjoy it…
My favorite way to use coconut oil is actually as a beauty product!
Say what?!! Who knew that this versatile oil could be used on your hair? Yep, that’s right… if softer, silky hair is what you’re after, try rubbing a teaspoon of coconut oil onto damp hair before going to bed, and wake up to soft, smooth, luscious hair!
Are your hands seriously cracked from all this dry, arctic cold weather we’ve had? Smear some oil into your hands like lotion! I love mixing coconut oil with a bit of my other body creams to keep my hands feeling oh-so-lovely!
Try washing your face with coconut oil! I do this every night before bed! It leaves my skin feeling soft and supple, but not greasy. To make a beauty mask, simply mix coconut oil with a bit of raw honey, apply to dark spots on your face, and watch as your skin clears up! It’s amazing!
Eye makeup remover-
My absolute favorite use for coconut oil is eye makeup remover. I value ‘quality makeup’ and I consider ‘the good stuff’ a worthwhile investment. I use Clinique and Lancôme products because I find that they are gentle enough for my sensitive skin. Sure, quality makeup costs a bit more upfront, but I refuse to put junk-makeup on my face! So, after years of removing my eye makeup with liquid makeup remover that often stung my eyes, I was shocked to learn that coconut oil works better than all the rest! Simply dab a small amount onto your palm and rub it around until it’s warm and liquid-y, apply this to your eyelids and wipe makeup off with a tissue. The best part is that even if some gets into your eyes… it won’t sting! Seriously, give it a try and I guarantee you’ll be hooked!
It can be hard to know where to purchase your coconut oil considering there are so many different ones available. That’s why I’d suggest you checkout https://www.tresomega.com/! That’s why I’d highly recommend checking out Tresomega’s Coconut oil!
