Eat BETTER Not Less!

“Eat BETTER Not Less.” I say this a lot and truly believe it is the key to lasting health and wellness. The other day I was having dinner with a friend. I was having celery, chicken tortilla soup, gluten free pretzels, and a big apple! It was delicious. My friend had 2 small pieces of pizza. After we finished our meals he complained about how stuffed he was. I felt like I ate so much more than him. I certainly had a much larger, nutrient dense meal, but calorically speaking his was much higher. I realized that most of the food I eat is fairly light. When you eat good food, you can eat a lot of it without feeling sick or fear of weight gain.

I always eat a full plate of food, I rarely take (or need) seconds, and always eat till I’m satisfied. The key? Eat the right food in abundance. Skip/ limit processed diary, refined glutenous grains, and opt for a nourishing plate of mostly plants! I make sure to eat fruits/ veggies at every meal. EVERY meal! They hydrate me and nourish my body. I also make sure to ALWAYS include protein and fats to keep me feeling satisfied for hours.

My healthy advice? Skip the 100 calorie packs of processed junk foods and focus more on NUTRIENTS than calories. When you focus on adding good food to your diet, you prevent the feeling of deprivation and instead focus on building a healthy, sustainable, and enjoyable relationship with food!
